Empowering Young People Through Learning and Growth
Academic, Career, and Life Skills Support for Teens & Young Adults
Our whole-person approach recognizes that learning, like every other aspect of a young person’s experience, is inextricably intertwined with their self-esteem, relationships, and sense of empowerment.

Tailored Instruction and Support for All Ages
As part of treatment, we support teens and young adults with academics, career planning, or life skills development, and executive functioning, depending on their needs and stage in life.
School-aged patients attend our academic program five days a week as part of their individualized treatment plan. Young adults have access to our Learning Lab to seek support for academics, job searches, resume writing, and more.

Newport’s Academic Program for Teens
At Newport Academy, mental health and academic support go hand in hand. We collaborate with schools to nurture teens’ love of learning, support their academic progress, and strengthen their executive functioning and organizational skills. Here’s how it works:
Each student in our residential treatment and Partial Hospitalization Programs receives a comprehensive academic assessment that informs an Individualized Academic Plan.
Students enroll in Newport Academy’s accredited curriculum, supported by our teaching staff, or they maintain enrollment in their school, with our teachers serving as liaisons and advocates.
Teens spend time in the classroom every weekday during their stay, and we support them to reintegrate at school after discharge

Our goal as educators is to help teens develop the self-esteem necessary to see themselves as capable and resilient learners.

Newport’s Learning Lab for Young Adults
Young adults enter our treatment program at different stages. Some are in college, others are already in the workforce, and some need support making the transition from one phase to the next.
Newport’s Learning Lab is a resource-rich environment where young adults can work towards their academic or career goals as well as learn practical skills for navigating life’s challenges. We provide academic tutoring and comprehensive support for vocational planning and career development.
Our goal is to ensure that young adults are equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to enter the workforce successfully.
Proven to Build Engagement
Our research shows that over five weeks of treatment,
students experience significant improvements, on
average, in motivation, interpersonal skills, and study
skills.
