CE Webinar
Supporting Families of Transgender Youth
with Luca Valentine, LMSW, CMFT
Friday, January 31 | 9:00 am PT/12:00 pm ET
Duration: 1.5 hours
Transgender youth face unique obstacles, and it can be difficult to know how to effectively guide their families. This population of marginalized young people has higher rates of eating disorders, substance use, and suicide attempts, and also faces anti-trans policies and rhetoric. In this webinar, we’ll look at ways for families to come together to support these youth as we enter another election cycle.
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss political and election-related rhetoric aimed at trans bodies, healthcare, and rights
2. Discuss these issues through the lens of the minority health model to identify distal and proximal stressors
3. Identify family strengths based on cultural beliefs and practices, emphasizing cultural humility in the process
