Creating Gatekeepers: Suicide Prevention Through QPR and Means Restriction

Virtual Event

September 11, 2025 @ 9:00 am 10:00 am PDT

This training provides clinicians with practical, evidence-based tools for recognizing and responding to suicide risk. Participants will gain familiarity with QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), a widely used intervention model often described as “CPR for suicide prevention.” We’ll also explore the critical role of restricting access to lethal means in preventing suicide. Clinicians will gain practical communication strategies for engaging individuals and families in these discussions.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Apply practical strategies for delivering means restriction education to individuals and families once suicide risk has been assessed
  • Demonstrate readiness to implement QPR skills as an evidence-based intervention for individuals at risk of suicide
  • Identify and utilize appropriate referral resources when supporting someone experiencing suicidal ideation
  • Explain the concept of means restriction and its role in reducing suicide risk

CE credits available for psychologists*, therapists*, counselors*, and social workers*.
