Newport Healthcare’s industry-leading programs in Northern and Southern California guide young people to achieve long-term recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.

Children’s Residential Treatment for Ages 7–11

An increasing number of younger children need intensive mental health support, but it’s difficult to find high-quality residential treatment for this age group. Newport Academy is addressing this gap in care by expanding our programming to offer safe, effective, and compassionate residential care for ages 7–11. Our integrated approach addresses anxiety, depression, and other childhood mental health disorders through age-appropriate care that emphasizes evidence-based modalities, family involvement, and unconditional love.

Primary and Secondary Substance Use Treatment

Newport’s drug rehab programming in California is designed to create long-term recovery by addressing the underlying issues that catalyze substance use disorder. Our treatment programs support teens and young adults to recover from drug or alcohol addiction by processing past trauma and developing healthy coping skills.

We treat young people with a primary mental health diagnosis accompanied by co-occurring substance use, as well as those who meet the criteria for a primary substance use disorder. Either way, our treatment addresses mental health and well-being at every step of the way.

Teen Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating Treatment

Newport Academy’s specialized teen and young adult eating disorder programming in California addresses immediate nutritional needs while treating primary issues, such as trauma, anxiety, or depression. We recognize that mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and OCD are often linked to struggles with food and body image.

Our specialized residential treatment for eating disorders and disordered eating (available at some locations) provides both dietary and clinical care, delivered by a team that includes medical doctors, psychiatrists, nurses, board-registered dietitians, therapists, residential care staff, and teachers.

Whole-Person Programming for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

To achieve long-term healing from OCD, teens and young adults need treatment that provides relief from obsessions and compulsions, while addressing underlying causes and co-occurring mental health conditions. Newport’s specialized OCD treatment incorporates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, considered the gold standard of care for OCD. In addition, clients’ treatment plans include psychiatric care, medication management, other evidence-based modalities, experiential activities, and academics/life skills education.
