Why Does Everything Have to Matter SO MUCH!? Cognitive Rigidity and Emotional Intensity in the Neurodivergent Brain

Virtual Event

May 30, 2025 @ 9:00 am 10:30 am PDT

One of the hallmarks of the gifted and neurodivergent brain is the intersection between emotional intensity and cognitive rigidity. When these two pieces of neurodivergence intersect, neurodivergent people can experience challenges with emotional expression, behavior, communication, and social skills—making therapeutic and educational interventions very difficult. For people who work with this population, it’s vital to understand what is happening and have the skills to intervene effectively.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Apply skills for addressing the intersection between emotional intensity and cognitive rigidity
  • Define cognitive rigidity, and why it is more common and intense in neurodivergent individuals
  • Describe neuropsychology differences that impact neurodivergent individuals’ experiences of emotion, in terms of frequency, intensity, and duration

CE credits available for psychologists*, therapists*, counselors*, and social workers*.Please email event.support@newporthealthcare.com for continuing education details.*Dependent on location.
