Understanding and Treating Taboo Themes in OCD with Erin Venker, MA, LPCC Wednesday, October 16 9:00 am PT/12:00 pm ET Duration: 1.5 hours This presentation will explore the under-recognized and often misunderstood taboo themes in OCD, such as intrusive thoughts related to harm and sexuality. Participants will gain insight into the clinical features of these themes, how they manifest in clients, and the most effective evidence-based treatments. The session will also cover common misconceptions and the challenges clinicians face when treating these themes, emphasizing the importance of a nonjudgmental and supportive therapeutic approach. After attending this webinar, participants will be able to: 1. Identify the common taboo themes in OCD and understand their clinical presentations 2. Apply evidence-based treatment approaches, such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy, for clients experiencing taboo OCD thoughts 3.
