Introduction to OCD, Anxiety, and Exposure Response (Ritual) Prevention Therapy
October 1, 2025 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am PDT

This webinar is part of Newport Healthcare’s Unpacking Anxiety series; find out more and register for upcoming events.
Research shows that it takes three or four doctors and up to nine years for a person with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) to receive an accurate diagnosis, and an average of 17 years before they receive appropriate treatment. Additionally, standard talk therapy appears to have little to no effectiveness in reducing OCD and anxiety-related symptoms.
This presentation will provide a diagnostic overview of OCD and related anxiety conditions, including how to accurately evaluate clients using assessments such as the Y-BOCS and CY-BOCS. Participants will also be introduced Exposure and Response (Ritual) Prevention (ERP) therapy, the gold standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD, which also addresses underlying anxiety.
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the importance of utilizing this evidence-based model in the treatment of OCD and anxiety to improve client outcomes.
- Define how the Y-BOCS and CY-BOCS assessments are used in diagnosing OCD and evaluating severity of symptoms and anxiety
- Describe how OCD presents, its different subtypes, and how anxiety commonly co-occurs and influences symptom presentation
- Identify the two components that make up ERP therapy and explain how ERP reduces both compulsive behaviors and associated anxiety
CE credits available for psychologists*, therapists*, counselors*, and social workers*.
