Finding a New Story: Helping Young Men Heal from Childhood Abuse and Addiction

Virtual Event

May 2, 2025 @ 9:00 am 10:00 am PDT

Research shows that men are less likely than women to seek help for childhood trauma, and more likely to become dependent on substances. In this webinar, we’ll explore the ways in which unresolved childhood sexual trauma affects young men, and how this trauma increases the likelihood of substance use disorder and other addictive behaviors, as desperate attempts to survive, compensate, or cope. We’ll also look at the importance for these young men of finding a new community of men through which to build healthy coping skills and find normalization and healing.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how childhood trauma can lead to mental health and addictive disorders in young men
  • Discuss the positive impact of having a new community of men in the recovery process
  • Identify the ways unresolved childhood sexual trauma leads to behaviors that impede young men’s development and path to recovery
