Do It Scared: How ACT Helps Clients Stop Chasing Painlessness and Start Living

Virtual Event

April 24, 2025 @ 9:00 am 10:30 am PDT

In this introductory presentation, we will look at the foundational principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), including its focus on psychological flexibility and values-driven action. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how ACT differs from more traditional approaches like CBT, and how it can be applied for clients struggling with emotional avoidance. Through brief experiential exercises, attendees will experience ACT firsthand and learn practical tools to integrate this client-centered, experiential therapy into their practice.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Define how ACT techniques can be applied in clinical practice to promote meaningful change
  • Describe the foundational elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and its emphasis on psychological flexibility
  • Discuss how core ACT principles, such as acceptance and values-driven action, can help clients navigate emotional avoidance and engage with their emotions more effectively
